When 14-time NHRA Funny Car champion John Force hired Mike Neff, a former crew chief, to drive the team's fourth race car, one of the first people John called was Bill, asking him to put Mike through his workshop.  Here are Bill and Mike, going over a few key points moments before Mike climbs aboard his 8,000-horsepower nitromethane-fueled Mustang at the AC Delco Gatornationals in Gainesville, FL.

Here's Bill with NHRA Top Fuel sensation Hillary Will outside her transporter at the O'Reilly Summer Nationals at Heartland Park in Topeka, KS. This photo was taken shortly after Hillary had completed her final One-On-One critique session as part of the Vocal Point Media Workshop.

During the 2007 NHRA Southern Nationals in Atlanta, Bill and Top Fuel star Morgan Lucas shared some laughs down in the Atlanta Dragway pit area. Morgan's family owns Lucas Oil Products, one of the most prominent high performance petroleum companies in America, and the young racer recently completed the Vocal Point Media Workshop.

Bill spends a moment visiting with good friend John Force (second from right), the NHRA's winningest driver and star of his own reality series on A&E, "Driving Force", along with John's daughter Ashley, now racing her own nitro Funny Car, and team driver Robert Hight. Ashley and Robert are both graduates of the Vocal Point Media Workshop. This photo was taken in John's pit area at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, FL.

Bill spends a few minutes talking to former NBA star Tom Hammonds in his pit area at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Tom now campaigns his own NHRA Pro Stock team and is a graduate of the Vocal Point Media Workshop.

Bill interviews three-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle champion Angelle Sampey on an ESPN2 telecast in 1999.  Angelle is the winningest female drag racer in NHRA history.

Between 1995 and 2000, Bill was a member of CBS Sports' NASCAR motorsports team and covered six Daytona 500's with Dr. Dick Berggren (center) and Ralph Sheheen (right). Here they are just before the green flag at the ’98 running of “The Great American Race”

In his 12 years as an on-camera commentator for ESPN's coverage of NHRA POWERade drag racing, Bill has interviewed literally every race-winning driver in that series during that span.

Here he is with Whit Bazemore, the Funny Car champion at the inaugural Route 66 Nationals in Joliet, IL in 1998.

Here's Bill in the garage area of Daytona International Speedway, having a candid discussion with Robbie Loomis, who at the time was the crew chief for Jeff Gordon's #24 Dupont Chevrolet.  This was taken before the 1998 Daytona 500, in which the late Dale Earnhardt Sr. won the race for the first time.

Bill poses with ESPN's Dave Rieff in the pit area of Houston Raceway Park in 2001. Dave and Bill are not only TV colleagues but good friends and spent five years together as pit reporters covering NHRA POWERade drag racing.

Bill had the distinction of being part of the CBS crew which was nominated for a Sports Emmy for its coverage of the 1998 Daytona 500. Here's Bill (circled) with the entire CBS team in their television compound following the race.

Bill, 1992 NHRA Funny Car champion and ESPN expert analyst Cruz Pedregon, ESPN host Marty Reid, and pit reporter Dave Rieff pose for a photo on the legendary quarter-mile at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis in 2001, the year that drag racing's most prestigious event, the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Bill waits to interview Jeff Gordon aboard his familiar #24 Dupont Chevy as it sits on the starting grid prior to the 2000 Pepsi 400 at Daytona and CBS's live coverage of the race.

During the pre-race program for the 2000 NASCAR Pepsi 400 at Daytona International Speedway, Bill had the pleasure of interviewing Nextel Cup superstar Mark Martin as the popular driver was getting in some last minute relaxation outside his motorcoach.

For several seasons, Bill enjoyed working as a national event announcer on the NHRA POWERade drag racing schedule.

This photo was taken in 1999, as Bill called the action for the huge crowd attending the O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals at Memphis Motorsports Park.

As a lifelong “motorhead”, Bill has been blessed with the opportunity to cover nearly every professional racing series in the country — from NASCAR to NHRA to Champ Car — and that smile is a reflection of just how much of a thrill his career has been!
